Betty Lee Winters, 90, passed away in her home in the early hours of Wednesday, March 31. She was born Betty Jane Lee on April 8, 1930, in San Jose, CA. She resided in Valley Springs, CA, with her husband Floyd "Sandy" E. Winters, who survives her. They had 50 wonderful years together.
Betty is also survived by five of her seven children: Kathryn Babcock, Guy Meeks, Susan Chivers, Rebecca Creely, and Michael Pennington. Two children, James Meeks and Sarah Ross, preceded her in death. Betty is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Betty's parents and four siblings preceded her in death.
Betty did not graduate from high school, but she and her family were so proud when she went back to school and received her high school diploma in 1988.
Betty retired in 1993 after a long career in the manufacturing industry. She and her husband built their retirement home in Mountain Ranch, CA on a hill they called "Winters' Wilderness". They enjoyed their retirement life on their "hill" until all was lost in the fire of 2015. Luckily they survived and landed happily in Valley Springs.
Betty was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; she was active in the Azalia Star Chapter in Jackson, CA, and the Orient Chapter in Fremont, CA, enjoying the close relationships she made and the many activities. She also loved to read, play games, play piano, and work Sudoku puzzles.
Betty was supported by Bristol Hospice in her final days surrounded by her loved ones.
Services will be held at San Andreas Memorial Chapel on April 24, 2021 at 11:00am. Her final resting place will be Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Oakdale, CA.
