Gloria R. Winsby 6/6/1932 - 10/8/2024
Gloria R. Winsby entered peacefully into rest on October 8, 2024.
Born in Susanville Ca. on June 6, 1932, to Mary and Francesco
Caoli she was the youngest of 6 siblings.
At a young age the family moved to Walnut Creek Ca. where she
grew up and attended school. After graduating from High School,
Gloria went to work for Wells Fargo Bank in Pittsburg, Ca. as a
training supervisor.
In 1952 she met and married the love of her life Vern. They were
married for 62 wonderful years. They raised two children Diane and
Stephen.
Gloria with Vern, were successful business owners opening
Winsby's Paint and Hardware in 1952 until 1970.
In 1970 they moved the family to Murphys Ca. where they owned
and operated the Montgomery Ward Catalog Agency and Winsby's
Appliance Center until retirement in 1998.
In 2000 she and Vern decided to downsize and moved to Forest
Meadows to be closer to the golf course and golfing community.
Gloria was an avid golfer who belonged to the Forest Meadows
Ladies Club for many years. She enjoyed the many friendships she
made in the golfing community. She was also a darn good golfer and
won a lot of championships and an abundance of trophies.
She and Vern loved traveling with their friends for different golf
outings.
After retirement you could see Gloria working at numerous
businesses in Murphys. She loved working with the public and
meeting people.
Gloria was also involved with the Black Bart players for many
years and was in quite a few productions over those years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Vern, parents
and siblings.
Gloria is survived by her daughter Diane, son Stephen,
grandchildren Devin, Bennett, Thatcher, great-grandson Arlo and
many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday November 2 nd at 11:00 at The
Angels Memorial Chapel with a reception to follow at the Murphys
Diggins Clubhouse 340 Tom Bell Rd Murphys.
