Kenneth Charles Keyes, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and
great-great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2024, at the age of
91. Born on September 21, 1933, in Bellows Falls, VT, Kenneth was the youngest of
five children born to Arnold and Sarah (Turner) Keye
Ken graduated from South High School in 1951 and later earned a Bachelor of Science
degree from University of San Francisco in 1976. He embarked on a remarkable career
with the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department in 1957, where he quickly rose to the
rank of Lieutenant during his 30 years of dedicated service. Known for his innovative
spirit and leadership, Kenneth was respected in his profession.
In 1977, Ken married Donna Mann, the love of his life. Together, they created a home
filled with warmth and love, attributing their blessed marriage to their Lord and Savio
Jesus Christ. Ken was a devoted family man, cherishing time spent with his large
extended family. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed water skiing, golf, snow skiing,
back packing and camping adventures.
A devoted church member, Ken participated in numerous international mission trips
with Donna. In San Jose, he led a ministry feeding the homeless, with Thanksgiving
dinners being a highlight of each year. He cooked 20 turkeys annually, assisted by
many church friends and his family.
Ken was diagnosed with ALS in 2017, bravely battling the disease for seven years. He
received excellent expert, focused care from UC Davis and Mather VA ALS doctors &
teams. Throughout, he remained the beloved Ken everyone knew, rarely succumbing to
self-pity. Donna cared for him with unwavering love and compassion.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Donna; his son, Steve (Pat); daughters,
Debbie (Gary) and Susie (Greg); many grandchildren (including great and great-great);
sister-in-law Christine (Gary); sister-in-law Rhonda; and many nieces and nephews. His
son Dana preceded him in death.
The family extends their gratitude to the Comfort Keepers caregivers and the Amador/
Calaveras Hospice Association for their compassionate care. A Celebration of Life
service will be held on March 8, 2025 at 11am at Chapel in the Pines, Arnold, CA.

missed by all who knew and loved him.
