Lawrence Edwin Wilson Sr. was born at home in Murphys, Calaveras county, California on January 15, 1931 and joined his ancestors on November 16, 2024. Lawrence went to elementary school in Murphys to eighth grade then worked in his family's mill.
Lawrence spent most of his life in the logging industry and was known as a daring cat skinner, often assigned jobs that others wouldn't do. He spent his spare time working on his cars.
Lawrence is survived by his daughter Ellen Lee Wilson and son Lawrence E. Wilson Jr., daughter-in-law Christy, grandchildren Galadrial Day, Anthony Wilson, Lauren Wilson , Evelyn Wilson and eight great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter Sally and Wife Evelyn Sr., brothers Clifford and Norman and sister Laverne.
Lawrence was laid to rest in the Buena Vista Cemetery in Murphys on November 22, 2024 with family and friends gathering at the Native Daughters of the Golden West in Murphys California.
Lawrence was well known for his extremely strong handshake which many younger men can attest to, as he often made a game of squeezing a handshake very hard.
