LeRoy (Roy) George Spackman, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished
grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, in Angels Camp, California, at
the age of 85. Born in Butte, Montana, on January 23, 1940, Roy lived a life filled with
passion and dedication.
Roy was the beloved husband of Lucille Anne (LuAnne) Spackman, whom he married
on September 3, 1961. Their enduring love was a testament to their commitment to
family. He was a proud and loving father to his sons, Paul, Michael, and Steve
Spackman, and a doting grandfather to Kyle, Everett, and Edwin Spackman.
He is survived by his wife LuAnne, his sons and grandchildren, his brother Jim
Spackman, and his sister Carol Bridges.
Roy's passions were well-known and deeply ingrained in his character. He found solace
and joy in fishing, spending countless hours on his beloved fishing boat. He enjoyed the
simple pleasure of smoking his pipe and the friendly competition of a round of golf. An
avid TV sports enthusiast, he could often be found cheering on his favorite teams.
Roy enjoyed a successful 35-year career with Georgia Pacific, demonstrating his
dedication and strong work ethic. In 1976, he moved his family from Beaverton, Oregon,
to Danville, California, to further his career and provide for his family.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Roy's life will be held on Monday, March 31,
2025, at 10:00 AM at Willamette Memorial Park Chapel, 2640 Old Salem Road NE,
Albany, Oregon 97321, with a memorial service to be held at a later date, to be
announced.
Donations may be made in Roy's memory to the Angels Camp Firefighters Association
and Altaville Melones Firefighters Association, who provided invaluable assistance to
him in his final years; the Kiwanis Family House (kiwanisfamilyhouse.org), where his
family found comfort and support during his time at UC Davis; or CalTrout (caltrout.org),
reflecting his lifelong passion for fishing and his involvement in maintaining the beauty
of New Melones Lake.
