Melvin Rakoncza Sr. Obituary

Melvin L. Rakoncza Sr., 83, of Stockton, California, passed away on March 9, 2026. Born in
Stockton on April 28, 1942, Melvin spent his life in the community he loved, building a legacy
of hard work, service, and devotion to family.
He grew up in Stockton and attended several local grammar schools before graduating from St.
Mary's High School in 1960. From an early age, Melvin showed the determination and
entrepreneurial spirit that would define his life. As a boy, he sold greeting cards and doughnuts
door to door, carried a paper route for the Stockton Record, and even started a worm farm with
his brother, Jerry, selling worms to fishermen along the Delta. To help pay his tuition at St.
Mary's, he worked in the school cafeteria while continuing his paper route and taking jobs at a
dry cleaner and a waffle shop.
Melvin went on to become owner and president of Lloyd Copy Equipment Company, leading the
business for more than 40 years. He was also a co-owner of Creative Printing and remained
active in civic life throughout the years. He served as past president of the Community Center for
the Blind, administrator for Sunnyside Community Services, a member of the Rotary Club of
Stockton, and an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau for more than 30 years. He also
devoted 10 years to coaching the Mustangs in Western Little League.
Melvin's business success and dealer awards gave him the opportunity to travel to many
countries, and he continued to enjoy traveling after retirement. He also loved camping with
family and friends and taking his motorhome on trips to fish for abalone and crab. Whether at
work, in the community, or on the road with loved ones, he brought energy, generosity, and a
strong sense of purpose to all he did.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Rakoncza; his children, Melvin Rakoncza Jr., Lori Rakoncza
(wife, Kim Tanaka), Raquel Boccoli (husband, Richard Boccoli), and Raul Jacques Jr. (wife,
Amber Freitas); his grandchildren, Isabella Rakoncza, Benjamin Boccoli, Madison Boccoli,
Nicholas Jacques, and Savanna Jacques; his nephew, Keith Rakoncza; his niece, Cindy Diebold;
and his great-nieces, Samantha Redfield and Danielle Masarie. He was preceded in death by his
parents, May Hall and Louis Rakoncza, and his brother, Jerry Rakoncza (wife, Glenda
Rakoncza).
A Celebration of Life is planned for July. Burial will take place at San Joaquin Catholic
Cemetery in Stockton.
