Patricia was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend whose warmth,
laughter and kindness touched so many lives. Patricia was born in Stockton, California. She
spent many summers visiting friends in Arnold, eventually moving there with her family. After
marrying her husband, Ronald McCarty, she went on to become a long time resident of
Copperopolis where she lived for 64 years and was a beloved member of the community.
She dedicated 31 years of service to Copperopolis Elementary School, working in various roles,
primarily as a teacher's aide. Patricia had a special love for children, and her kindness and
care left a lasting impact on generations of students. In recognition of her compassionate
spirit, she was honored with a Kindness Hero Award and named an Honorary Chapter Farmer
by Bret Harte FFA.
Patricia attended Avery Grammar School and graduated from Bret Harte High School in 1962.
She had a joyful and spirited personality, known for her sense of humor and love of fun. She
especially enjoyed decorating her home for every holiday, with Halloween being her favorite—
she delighted in dressing up and bringing smiles to others. Patricia was also a proud supporter
of Bret Harte football, often dressing up in funny costumes to cheer on her team.
She found great joy in horseback riding, she especially enjoyed helping take cows to the
mountains. She loved traveling with family and friends, always cherishing time spent with
those she loved most.
Patricia is survived by her children, Ronda (David) Atkinson and Stacey (Kevin) Griffith; her
sister, Joan Millet; her grandchildren, Carlee Atkinson, Colton (Devon) Atkinson, Carson
(Caitlin) Atkinson, Grant (Ashton) Herrick, and Kary (Trent) Teagle; and her great-grandchildren,
